Dainese was founded in 1972 by Lino Dainese, a 24-year-old motorcycling enthusiast driven by unbridled curiosity, a constant desire to experiment and a strong interest in contemporary art and design.
Since these early days, the mission of the Dainese brand has always been to improve and promote safety in dynamic sports through innovation and ergonomics.
Lino Dainese's initial vision was to combine the technical expertise of two areas in the Italian province of Venice: Arzignano, with its unique leather tanning tradition, and Marostica/Molvena, with its apparel expertise. The result, presented at the company's Milan Showroom in 1974, brought a dazzling splash of color to a world dominated by black, increasing the runner's visibility and thus their safety, as well as adding fun and notably increasing the potential to get sponsors.
Although it was not talked about at the time, the ambition behind these first innovations and everything that would follow was simple but forceful: to support in the best possible way the feats of the human body in search of the dreams of the human mind. Dainese sums this up in four words by which they are known all over the world: they are inspired by people.
