Founded in the Jura mountains, the true cradle of French eyewear, Loubsol has been a leader since its inception. From fashion to protection, they have been proud to lead the way for over 70 years, whether in terms of style or technological innovation.

Eyewear craftsman René Loubeyre made the very first Loubsol frames in 1948 in his small workshop in Saint Claude. He gave his name to the brand we know today, an abbreviation of “Loubeyre Solaire”.

With the development of the Loubsomatic system in the 1970s, Loubsol was one of the very first to design photochromic optics for sport. Lenses and screens that darken or lighten automatically depending on the ambient light to protect against glare in all circumstances.

With more than 70 years of expertise in optics and more than a century of pharmaceutical heritage, Loubsol today designs its products between its Norman and Alpine studios. Manufacturing is entrusted to several production units distributed between France, Italy and Asia.
