Why take freeze-dried food to the mountains?

When every gram counts in your backpack, freeze-dried meals are the perfect solution. They weigh up to 90% less than conventional food, keep for years without refrigeration, and are prepared in under 10 minutes: all you need is hot water, and the container acts as your plate.

Who are they for?

They are the first choice for mountaineers, hikers, and trail runners on multi-day treks, bivouacs, shelters without kitchens, and high-altitude expeditions. How much food do I need per day?

For an active day of mountain trekking, allow between 2,500 and 3,500 kcal per day. A freeze-dried main dish provides between 500 and 700 kcal, so you'll need at least two main dishes plus snacks, bars, or gels to fill up your day.
