The Wildfire Edge is a durable and highly breathable women's technical approach shoe, engineered to deliver superior climbing performance and exceptional walking comfort across demanding mountain terrains.
This approach shoe stands out for its full adaptability between hiking and climbing modes. Designed alongside mountain guides and top climbers in the Dolomites, Salewa's Switchfit system is as simple as it is intelligent: just pull the laces through the rear eyelet and tighten them. This shifts the foot forward into the toe box, compressing the toes similarly to a professional climbing shoe for enhanced edging control and increased safety on technical rock features. Once climbing is done, simply loosen the laces at the rear eyelet to grant more room in the toe box and hike back with total comfort. Its robust upper guarantees excellent breathability in warm and dry climates, keeping the foot cool during high-intensity summer activities.
To ensure maximum precision during climbing, the inner insole embeds a rigid Edging Plate directly beneath the toes for extra directional stiffness, while the rest of the sole remains flexible to preserve a smooth, natural gait and continuous comfort. It features the Pomoca Speed MTN outsole which, utilizing the Pomoca Butylic compound, delivers exceptional friction and grip on both dry and wet rock surfaces. The outsole profile includes a precise climbing zone at the toe, outstanding performance on narrow edges, and aggressive lugs for reliable traction over mud and soft ground. For top-tier torsional stability, the Exa Shell layer wraps closely around the foot to prevent slipping, complemented by the 3F system for flexibility, extended Climbing Lacing to the toes, and the Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+) with interchangeable layers to guarantee a hot-spot and blister-free fit on long trails.
