X ULTRA 5 GORE-TEX

The Salomon X Ultra 5 GORE-TEX is the most advanced low-cut hiking shoe in the X-ULTRA family: a Matryx® upper reinforced with high-tenacity Kevlar® fibres, a PFC-free GORE-TEX ePE membrane and the new Active Support™ system, all in a lightweight and agile design that performs equally well on the steepest climbs and the most technical descents.

Matryx® upper with Kevlar®: protection-grade resistance
The Matryx® fabric integrates individually coated high-tenacity Kevlar® yarns alongside technical thread, generating an upper that resists abrasion from roots, rocks and scree far beyond conventional synthetic materials. The technical construction keeps the shoe lightweight and breathable without sacrificing the protection that technical terrain demands. The reinforced toe cap and heel counter add an extra layer of durability in the highest-wear zones.

Active Support™ and Advanced Chassis™: active stability in low-cut
The Active Support™ system introduces mobile lateral wings that dynamically adapt to the shape and volume of the foot during movement, keeping the foot in its optimal position without restricting freedom of movement — a particularly critical factor in a low-cut design. The advancedCHASSIS™, a moulded insert embedded in the outsole, adds lateral support and underfoot protection, while the EnergyCell™ midsole delivers firm cushioning with excellent ground contact.

PFC-free GORE-TEX ePE, Contagrip® grip and QuickLace™ fit
The expanded polyethylene GORE-TEX ePE membrane keeps feet dry in rain and mud with a reduced environmental impact by eliminating PFC compounds. The All-Terrain Contagrip® outsole delivers reliable traction on mud, wet rock and loose dirt. The QuickLace™ system allows precise single-pull adjustment with an integrated tongue pocket to stow the excess cord, while SensiFit™ wraps the foot for a secure and customisable fit from heel to toe.

• Matryx®: High-performance fabric integrating individually coated high-tenacity Kevlar® yarns alongside technical thread. Delivers abrasion resistance far superior to conventional synthetic fabrics while keeping the shoe lightweight and breathable. The same base material used in climbing ropes and protective equipment.
• Active Support™: System of mobile lateral wings integrated into the upper. They dynamically adapt to the shape and volume of the foot during movement, accompanying every step and keeping the foot stable without restricting natural mobility — critical in a low-cut design.
