VICTORINOX
Victorinox is a Swiss brand of knives and pocketknives, founded in 1884, known worldwide for the iconic "Swiss Army Knife." The name comes from the combination of "Victoria," the name of the founder's mother, and "Inox," short for stainless steel, adopted in 1921. Today, it is a global company with a wide range of products including watches, luggage, and fragrances, in addition to maintaining its legacy of high-quality, functional knives.
History and Origin
The company was founded in 1884 by Karl Elsener in the canton of Schwyz, Switzerland. In 1891, it began supplying knives to the Swiss Army. The officer's model was patented in 1897, marking the beginning of its global expansion.
