The Scarpa Instinct VS is a climbing shoe built for expert climbers who demand precision and sensitivity on the most demanding routes and boulders. Its slightly asymmetric last with medium downturn, combined with the Vibram® XS Edge outsole, delivers pinpoint edging without giving up the sensitivity needed for steep overhangs.

Downturned last and Bi-Tension system
The slightly asymmetric, downturned shape with a medium angled toe box pairs with the Bi-Tension system, which extends from the toe to the arch to provide optimal tension without losing flexibility.

Mixed microfibre and leather upper
The upper combines microfibre and leather across 6 panels: microfibre in the upper section adds adaptability and comfort over the instep, while leather in the lower section provides greater stability and support. The Velcro closure keeps the heel secure even on the most demanding heel hooks.

Combined Vibram® XS Edge and XS Grip2 outsole
The 3.5 mm Vibram® XS Edge outsole spans the front half of the foot for precise edging, while the 2 mm hand-crafted Vibram® XS Grip2 heel adds grip on heel hooks. The 1 mm Flexan midsole distributes force across the foot while keeping flexibility at the rear.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

• Bi-Tension: Rubber that wraps the foot along both sides of the shoe, providing support without compromising sensitivity. Fits slightly asymmetrical models particularly well, extending from toe to heel while leaving the middle free for more sensitivity.
• Flexan midsole: 1 mm insert distributing force across the entire foot and allowing excellent flexibility at the rear of the shoe.
• Vibram® XS Edge: Compound developed to provide maximum support and precise weight distribution, even on the smallest holds, with high resistance to plastic deformation and reliable performance in hot and cold conditions.
• Vibram® XS Grip2 (heel): Higher-grip compound applied to the hand-crafted heel for extra security on demanding heel hooks.
• Toe-hook patch: Soft rubber on the toe specifically designed to catch the foot during toe-hooks.
• Resoleable: Can be resoled at official Scarpa resole centres, extending the shoe's lifespan.
