The La Sportiva TX5 Evo GTX sits in a space of its own between a pure approach shoe and a classic hiking boot: a low-cut, rugged and protective model built for hikers who move across scree fields, tackle via ferrata sections and cover long days between mountain huts without giving up agility. Quality nubuck leather and the GORE-TEX ePE membrane keep the foot dry and protected in any mountain condition.
Nubuck leather and PFAS-free GORE-TEX ePE
The upper pairs resistant nubuck leather with the GORE-TEX ePE Extended Comfort membrane, a waterproof, breathable technology formulated without PFAS compounds that holds up through stream crossings, mud and wet rock without compromising internal moisture evacuation. STB Control inserts on the medial and lateral sides of the instep reinforce foot containment on uneven footholds, while the lacing system, carried over directly from approach models, allows for very precise volume adjustment at every stage of the route.
3D Flex Evo™ and EVA CM cushioning
The 3D Flex Evo™ technology frees up natural ankle movement without creating chafing, particularly valuable on long days where constant friction tends to take its toll. The compression-moulded EVA CM midsole absorbs impact on uneven terrain, backed by the 5mm OrthoLite® Hybrid™ Mountain Hiking footbed, designed to keep the foot comfortable throughout a full day of activity.
Vibram® MegaGrip outsole with Impact Brake System™ and Resole Platform™
At the base, the Vibram® MegaGrip outsole combined with the patented Impact Brake System™ delivers very reliable traction on both demanding ascents and technical descents, managing the impact of each footstrike through a lug geometry designed specifically for that purpose. The shoe also features Resole Platform™ inserts, made with 7% recycled material, that allow a specialist cobbler to replace the worn tread and considerably extend the shoe's service life.

- GORE-TEX ePE Extended Comfort: Next-generation waterproof and breathable membrane, formulated without PFAS compounds. Keeps the foot dry through stream crossings and muddy terrain while resisting tearing in areas of constant contact against rock.
- 3D Flex Evo™: Technology that frees up natural three-dimensional ankle movement without creating internal chafing, improving agility on technical terrain without sacrificing lateral foot containment.
- STB Control inserts: Reinforcements on the medial and lateral instep that stabilise the foot on uneven footholds and traverses, improving control on loose scree slopes.
- Impact Brake™ System: System applied to the outsole that absorbs the impact of every stride, improves traction on ascents and increases braking on descents thanks to the specific lug angle. Developed by La Sportiva®'s R&D department together with Vibram®.
- Vibram® MegaGrip: High-performance rubber compound ensuring reliable grip on slippery rock, loose ground and uneven terrain, with durability far superior to conventional compounds.
